Bead and Read Activation

Immerse yourself in a world where creativity and culture collide at the AFRI LAB x Beading and Reading Workshop at Artwave.

Facilitated by Duduzile Mathebula with the assistance of Buhle Ncoco, this workshop offers a hands-on experience in crafting a beautiful Love Letter through the art of beading. As you bead, you’ll be transported into the world of African philosophies and storytelling, with
readings from contemporary literature that explore the rich history and cultural significance of beadwork.

This is an opportunity to connect with art, history, and literature in a unique way.

About the Venue

This workshop is hosted in our studio at 44 Stanley. It is on the 1st floor near the Salvation Cafe entrance. Please note that there are only stairs to this floor.

There is secure parking available.

We will provide juice and an alcoholic drink for you to choose from as well as snacks. You may bring your own if needed.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Buying a ticket to a class/workshop secures your place and prevents someone else from purchasing those tickets. We expect all our events to sell out and have a strict cancellation policy to ensure we aren’t experiencing a loss of income at the last minute.

• Cancellations with more than 14 days notice: You can transfer yourself to a future class/workshop of your choice free of charge, or get a full refund for a fee.
• Cancellations within 7 days of notice: You can transfer yourself to a future class/workshop of your choice free of charge. No refunds.
• On the day or after the workshop: You won’t be able to transfer yourself for a future date. No refunds.

If someone in your group is ill or unable to attend, you may bring someone else in their place. As we have limited seating available, “no call, no shows” will not be refunded.
